Returns, cancellations and refunds

The short version: you have 14 days from delivery to change your mind, no reason needed. This page explains how that works and what condition a piece has to come back in. The full detail is in clause 9 of our terms of sale.

Your right to cancel

If you buy online as a consumer, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days from the day you take delivery to cancel, without giving a reason. Tell us in writing before the 14 days are up — email sales@chrono6538.com. You may use the model cancellation form in the Schedule to our terms, but you do not have to; any clear statement will do.

Sending it back

Return the piece within 14 days of telling us you are cancelling. The deadline is met if you despatch it before that period expires.

You pay the return postage, and because of the value involved it must go by a fully insured, signed-for service covering the full purchase price. We will confirm the return address and the service we require when you notify us. If you send a piece back uninsured or by an unsuitable service, the risk of loss or damage in transit is yours. Until it reaches us, it remains at your risk.

What condition it has to come back in

Return the piece in its original packaging — outer box, inner box, sleeves, pouches, dust bags, presentation case — with everything supplied: papers, warranty card, certificate of authenticity, links removed at sizing, tags, protective films and stickers, spare parts and accessories.

You may examine it as you would in a shop. Try it on, look at it, check it works. What you may not do is use it. If handling goes beyond what was needed to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the piece, and that reduces its value, we may deduct the difference from your refund. We will tell you the amount, the basis for it and show you photographs before we refund.

Things that typically attract a deduction: a watch worn outside the home, a bracelet sized with links not returned, protective films or factory stickers removed, scratches or dents to case, bracelet, clasp or crystal, jewellery resized or engraved, a bag carried in use, perfume or smoke odour, and missing or damaged box, papers or dust bag.

Your refund

We refund the price you paid plus the standard outbound delivery charge. If you chose a more expensive delivery service than our standard, we refund the standard rate. Any deduction for diminished value comes off that total.

We refund within 14 days of receiving the piece back, or within 14 days of you evidencing that you sent it, whichever is earlier. It goes back by the same means you paid, and there is no fee.

When the right does not apply

If something is faulty

Separate from cancelling, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights if a piece is faulty: reject it within 30 days for a full refund; after that, a repair or replacement, and a refund if that does not put it right. For a pre-owned piece, satisfactory quality is judged against the description, the price and the item’s age and previous use. Normal wear consistent with age, and disclosed in the condition report, is not a fault.

Business customers

If you buy in the course of a business the 14-day cancellation right does not apply — the Regulations do not cover you. We may still accept a return at our discretion, on terms agreed at the time. See clause 10 of our terms.

Warranty

We provide a 12-month warranty on the movement of watches sold through this site, covering mechanical failure in normal use, where the watch has not been opened, modified or damaged. Exclusions are in clause 12 of our terms.

Questions before you buy? Ask — sales@chrono6538.com. We would rather talk you through a piece than take a return.
