How Much Is a Pre-Owned Écrou de Cartier Worth? (UK, 2026)

The Écrou de Cartier is a piece you tend to buy once you have stopped dressing for anyone else. Its whole design is an industrial nut-and-bolt thread turned into solid gold, quietly witty, worn by the sort of lady who rather likes that only she is in on the joke. A plain-gold Écrou bangle sits at roughly £5,800 to £7,450 on the UK pre-owned market as of July 2026 — just under Cartier’s own £7,450 to £7,950 new.

What is the Écrou de Cartier?

Cartier introduced the Écrou (French for “nut”, as in nut-and-bolt) in 2019, alongside its other pieces of jewellery built from the hardware of everyday life — the Juste un Clou nail and the Love bracelet with its screw heads. The Écrou takes that idea furthest: rows of tiny gold hex-nuts thread around a hinged bangle, or wrap a simple band ring. It was only ever a minor line, and by 2024 it was widely reported to have been quietly wound down, which is part of why good examples are now scarce on the secondary market.

You will find it in three main forms: the plain-gold bangle (yellow, rose or white), a diamond-set bangle, and a slim band ring. Metal makes very little difference to price on the plain pieces — it is the diamonds that move the number.

How much is a pre-owned Écrou de Cartier bracelet worth?

Here is where the real UK market sat in July 2026. These are dealer asking prices, not sold figures, and the sample is small because the line is scarce.

Piece Cartier retail (new) Pre-owned asking (UK, Jul 2026)
Écrou bangle, plain 18ct gold (YG/RG/WG) £7,450 (YG/RG); £7,950 (WG) ~£5,800–£7,450
Écrou bangle, rose gold + 24 baguette diamonds (1.29ct) £21,000 ~£14,500 (indicative, USD-sourced)
Écrou band ring, 18ct gold ~£2,300 (indicative) thin data — roughly £1,500–£2,300

For the plain-gold bangle, the realistic entry point is an older piece, worn, without box or papers, from around £5,500. The cheapest firmly-evidenced example was a 2021 white-gold bangle in excellent condition, boxed with its receipt, at £5,799; a yellow-gold example ran to about £6,050. The high gold weight (roughly 29–31 grams) sets a hard floor of its own.

What about the Écrou ring?

The ring is the honest gap in the data. Cartier’s own price sits around £2,300, and pre-owned examples do surface — a yellow-gold band here, a “good condition” piece there — but firm published UK asking prices are hard to pin down because so few change hands. Treat anything from about £1,500 to £2,300 as a reasonable range rather than a settled figure, and expect to wait for the right one.

Has the Écrou held its value?

On the small sample available, it has held up reasonably well for a minor, now-discontinued line. Recent dealer asking prices for plain-gold bangles (roughly £5,800–£7,450) sit close to what the pieces cost new, helped by scarcity and by the sheer weight of gold underneath. That said, these are asking prices from a handful of dealers rather than a broad record of sales, so read it as a qualitative observation and nothing more. This is not investment advice, and jewellery values can fall as well as rise.

Buying an Écrou de Cartier for yourself

Two things worth saying plainly. First, the figures above are wider open-market floors — the least you might pay privately for the oldest, most worn example — not Chrono6538’s prices. We sell authenticated, guaranteed pieces at a premium to that bare private-market floor, because a piece that has been properly checked is a different thing to buy. Second, the Écrou is a self-purchase in the truest sense: architectural, understated, and easy to wear every day without a second thought. Authenticated, guaranteed, and yours to love.
